MUSKRAT represents a new class of ultra-light unmanned ground systems built for dynamic, real-world missions. Modular, intelligent, and engineered in Canada, it delivers scalable capability in a truly man-portable form.
Modular Unmanned System for Kinetic Reconnaissance and Tactics
MUSKRAT is a flagship advanced R&D program at Bridge North focused on the development of a next-generation, ultra-light unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) platform. Designed and engineered in Canada, MUSKRAT represents a new category of truly man-portable, modular unmanned systems built for defence, law enforcement, and public-safety operations. It is an integrated unmanned system that combines an ultra-light UGV platform, modular remote weapon station, adaptable cradle architecture, mission-specific payloads, and an AI-enabled targeting and fire-control system into a single scalable tactical solution.
At its foundation, MUSKRAT is engineered to operate under a strict sub-20 kg mass threshold while maintaining exceptional structural integrity, modular scalability, and mission flexibility. Achieving this balance requires advanced integration of carbon-fibre composites, titanium structural components, high-density battery systems, and optimized electric drivetrains. The program pushes the limits of strength-to-weight performance, power efficiency, and compact system architecture.
Beyond the hardware itself, MUSKRAT represents a systems-level advancement for Bridge North. The program includes experimental development across power systems, advanced materials integration, embedded electronics, AI-enabled robotics, and full platform validation. It is not simply a product initiative — it is a capability-building program that expands Bridge North’s role as a centre of excellence in ultra-light unmanned systems and advanced defence manufacturing.
